We warmly welcome our new Vice President of Business, Victor Urcuyo, to the Canal Securities family, it is a pleasure to have a star signing in our team.

We share with you this interview conducted by Lucero Maldonado and published on La Estrella de Panamá today.

I put the customer at the center of every decision, I look for their welfare'.

Victor Urcuyo assumes a new challenge as Vice President of Business at Canal Securities. He worked in commercial banking where he learned about mortgages, lines of credit, SME analysis and other banking products, but his quest to delve deeper into certain topics during his master's degree led him to the securities market.

About his new position he notes: "Canal Securities being a boutique, independent company, does very important work as a team and aligned with the mission to be able to achieve the challenges we have as a company, I think that is fundamental to be able to achieve any of the strategies or goals we set as a company."

At what point was this shift from traditional banking to the stock market?

I studied Finance at Tulane University in New Orleans and later accepted a job at BAC Panama, where I had the experience of working in several areas of the bank, including Wealth Management, Commercial Banking and Treasury. After that experience I decided to pursue an MBA at INCAE Business School in Costa Rica for two years, with an emphasis in Finance and Economics where I was exposed to the area of portfolio management. After the MBA I had the opportunity to return to BAC again, now in the area of Wealth Management, investment banking and structuring where I worked until recently as AVP of Investments and Senior Executive.
