5G technology is no longer the future...
The reality is that the long-awaited 5G technology is the present. In the process of global evolution, there are circumstances or technological developments that have marked a before and after. Undoubtedly, the arrival of 5G technology is on the way to make a significant impact. Like any change, it will surely bring with it many winners and, on the other hand, many participants who will not be favored by this evolution.
To understand what we are talking about, let's mention that 5G networks have the power to generate faster and more secure mobile internet connectivity than what is known so far. Average download speeds are expected to be around 1GBps over time. From this new development of the current 4G/LTE technology, a new trend of innovation is expected. Which may highlight artificial intelligence, IoT (Internet of Things), autonomous vehicles and the robotics sector among others.
Although the expectations regarding what the application of this new technology can mean are high, we believe that the benefit in different sectors of the economy supported by this new 5G technology network is something that we cannot yet imagine for sure. We think that the benefit in different sectors of the economy supported by this new 5G technology network is something that we cannot yet imagine for sure. The development it could mean for the creation of different applications, devices and even technological tools for sectors and places in the world that have been left behind due to lack of connectivity could be invaluable.

The revolution towards this technology is worldwide, however, to summarize some data, we can mention that the revolution is led by China by far. Currently, according to a report by Ericsson, the Asian giant has 80% of all subscribers to 5G networks. The number of subscribers by the end of 2020 has been 220 million subscribers. All this, up from only 5 million at the end of 2019, the growth has been exponential. The installation of 5G base stations is also growing at an accelerated pace. The country currently has more than 700,000 5G base stations, which is more than double the total installed in all locations outside of China.
The year 2020, unfortunately spurred by the arrival of the pandemic, marked a momentous step towards an increasingly virtual world. In this regard, according to some projections, it is estimated that, five years from now, 60% of the population will be covered by 5G networks. The continents expected to have the greatest access will be Northeast Asia, North America and, in third place, Western Europe. Western Europe is in third place, as it has been developing new projects to accelerate its digitalization process.
