Good coffee and good investments: A parallel

Panama has one of the best coffee productions in the world, where the Panama Geisha stands out, an exotic product that attracts the most refined palates for its quality and its prices at international auctions.

To understand the complexity of harvesting a champion coffee and the relationship that this process has with a good investment portfolio, we talked to Roberto Brenes, president of Canalsecurities, an investment banker with more than 35 years of experience in the stock market and owner of Auromar, a coffee farm located in Chiriqui, awarded several times in the Best of Panama competition.

We combine his two passions: Investments and coffee. "Don Brenes", as he is called in Auromar, tells us that a good investor must have three key qualities that are very similar to coffee production:

"The farm needs knowledge in all cultivation and harvesting processes to turn a coffee cherry into a green bean ready for export" RB

Therefore, the first quality of a good investor is the desire to acquire knowledge.
