World Economy: McDonald's leaves Russia
World economy: Russia and Ukraine war case.
After more than 30 years of doing business in Russia, McDonald's, the world's largest fast food restaurant chain, announced that it is permanently leaving the country due to the invasion of Ukraine.
The company had temporarily closed its restaurants and suspended operations in Russia on March 8, following the outbreak of the conflict.
However, he said today that the humanitarian crisis caused by the war and the unpredictable operating environment it has caused led the company to conclude that continuing the business in Russia was no longer sustainable and was inconsistent with its values.
McDonald's explained that it is now in the process of selling all of its 847 Russian restaurants to a local buyer.
