The costs of the pandemic
Economic recovery will be slow, according to experts, given the low number of vaccinated people, which prevents herd immunity from being achieved.
So far it can be concluded, in advance, that it is not possible to quantify the exact cost of the crisis; and the time it will take for the economic reactivation.
The divergence in the dynamics of vaccination days between the economic powers and the emerging ones is a sign of the existing gap in access to vaccines in countless quantities and that allow to provide safety in schools and workplaces mainly.
The pandemic, which is no longer a pandemic, but an epidemic, given the variants that emerge endemically, continues to claim, in addition to lives, time in mandatory quarantines that can even cost a person's job in a company.
The challenge is not only to control the virus, but also to contain unemployment. It is essential to reactivate and accelerate infrastructure projects that incorporate jobs in important blocks, to adjust wages again, and for governments to guarantee security conditions with access to vaccines and allow their economies to move forward.
