U.S. technology and social media conglomerate headquartered in Menlo Park, California. It is the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Oculus and the largest social networking company by market capitalization.
Since its last quarter, the company has experienced a devaluation of more than 40%, setting an all-time record for the largest capitalization loss in the shortest time in the stock market.
The company failed to meet revenue estimates because of a changing user base and features added to mobile devices such as iPhones, which allow block tracking and reporting of app data on device usage, valuable information for Meta (Facebook and Instagram) ads.
The current uncertainty lies in whether the company has been able to find alternatives and recover its profit margins and user retention.
