China investigates Alibaba | Weekly Excerpt December 28th

Retail giant Alibaba will be in the spotlight after the Chinese government launched investigations into alleged monopolistic practices by the company.

This week, the U.S. equity market closes in positive territory. The main U.S. indices are close to their highs.

In Europe, the main financial markets closed the week in positive territory. With only one week left in the year, most European indices are still in negative territory so far in 2020.


To be taken into account

Outgoing U.S. President Donald Trump, finally signed the new fiscal stimulus plan approved by congress. Trump had threatened to no sign the approved economic stimulus package. This would have jeopardized the income of millions of public employees as of Tuesday. Since the partial government shutdown and the refusal to sign would have left millions of people without the federal unemployment benefits they had been receiving since Saturday, December 26.
