The U.S. equity market closed the week at new all-time highs. Investor confidence seems to be in the vaccination process and the upcoming government aid plan.

In Europe, the main financial markets closed the week on a positive note. The Eurostoxx is trading at 12-month highs and is very close to erasing the losses of 2020.

The week on Wall Street will be only four trading days. Investors are beginning to consider whether inflation and a possible interest rate hike could be part of the game.

Following the madness that has been unleashed on Wall Street a few days ago with the price movements of GameStop's stock; Citadel's founder (Ken Griffin), Robinhood's CEO (Vladimir Tenev) and executives from Melvin Capital, are scheduled to testify in Congress before a House of Representatives panel. This could be the first of several investigations to look into the market volatility that caused stocks like GameStop's to rise exponentially.

74% of S&P 500 companies have reported fourth quarter 2020 results. For now, earnings reported have exceeded analysts' expectations by 18%. Investors will be looking ahead to another busy week of corporate results.
