With her re-election, Nancy Pelosi has secured her fourth term in office despite the Democrats' slim majority in the House.

The US equity market closes the last week of the year in positive territory. The main American indexes closed the year 2020 reaching new all-time highs. 

In Europe, the main financial markets closed the last week of 2020 in positive territory. However, most indices were unable to erase the year's losses with the exception of the German index (DAX), which closed the year at record highs.

To be taken into account

The year 2021 begins and investors will be watching the results of the runoff Senate election in the U.S. state of Georgia. At stake is which party will control the Senate for the next four years. 

Nancy Pelosi was re-elected on Sunday, January 3, as Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. In this way, she has secured her fourth term in office despite the Democrats' slim majority in the chamber.
